Mission

Saskatoon Folkfest is dedicated to immersing visitors in a vibrant, multi-cultural atmosphere through cuisine, entertainment, and exhibits. Our festival offers a local international experience accessible to all, engaging and informing the community in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment. Folkfest is guided by its principles: diversity, equity, inclusiveness, empowerment, unity, sustainability, and responsiveness that its festival lives by, and incorporates. At the same time, we create opportunities for our membership to grow and develop, supporting cultural continuity and community involvement.

Folkfest's Youth Ambassador Program

Folkfest’s Youth Ambassador Program seeks to empower the next generation of cultural leaders. This summer program brings together young people from diverse backgrounds to gain hands-on experience with festival operations, community engagement, and cultural promotion.

The Youth Ambassadors help run events, interact with festival visitors, and support the pavilions. Through this work, they develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, while building life-long friendships. They become advocates for diversity and cross-cultural connection, carrying Folkfest’s mission into the future. The program fosters leadership, a sense of community, and pride, while empowering youth to contribute meaningfully to cultural celebration.

Vision

We envision an unparalleled multi-cultural experience that brings our community together to celebrate diversity, heritage, and shared understanding. Folkfest seeks to foster appreciation for all cultures while inspiring connections, learning, and unity across Saskatoon.

Impact

Saskatoon Folkfest has had a profound impact on the city’s cultural and community life, by providing a vibrant platform for celebrating and preserving the traditions of diverse cultural communities. Through its pavilions, performances, cuisine, and exhibits, the festival fosters cross-cultural understanding, social cohesion, and intergenerational learning, allowing attendees and volunteers alike to experience and appreciate cross-cultural exchange. With thousands of volunteers and hundreds of thousands of pavilion visits annually, Folkfest not only strengthens community bonds but also empowers youth, supports local cultural groups, and contributes to Saskatoon’s identity as an inclusive, multicultural city. By connecting people across backgrounds, the festival continues to enrich lives, promote diversity, and sustain cultural continuity for generations to come.

Community in Action

Who We Are

Saskatoon Folkfest is more than just a festival; it’s a grassroots-driven, community-oriented celebration of culture. We bring together performers from diverse backgrounds, volunteers, and visitors to share arts, food and dance.

What We Do

Folkfest hosts an annual multi-day summer festival featuring “pavilions” from a variety of cultural organizations across the city, and we are always seeking new members. Our festival brings the community together to strengthen cross-cultural connections and celebrate diversity in Saskatoon.

Why it Matters

Folkfest continues to be a people-centered festival that prioritizes diversity and inclusion. Folkfest creates a space where culture and traditions can be shared, building connections and strengthening Saskatoon’s multiculturalism, regardless of origin.
